Flight Lieutenant Amanda Gardner - Medical Officer, Royal Australian Air Force

Lieutenant Amanda Gardner
‘There’s a sense of pride in yourself, because I do things that I would’ve never have done if I wasn’t in the air force. [Things] well outside my comfort zone, things that I’ve achieved that I just wouldn’t even consider attempting as a civilian.’

As a medical officer in the Air Force Flight Lieutenant Amanda Gardner is involved in supplying general medicine, aviation medicine and aero medical evacuations to the Air Force team. She joined the Air Force as a troop and had the opportunity to do a Bachelor of Nursing, which then led to further study medicine.

‘I feel like I’m doing my bit for the country; I do feel like a public servant. I’m a part of an organisation where there’s a bigger picture,’ she says.
