About this course

In light of the ever-growing threat of terrorism, this online Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism course is the ideal qualification and professional stepping stone for individuals looking to specialise in the field of counter terrorism.

Offered by Open Universities Australia in partnership with Macquarie University, the course is ideally suited to police officers or security professionals looking to upskill in this highly specialised field. 

The course syllabus has been written to reflect contemporary security issues and covers foundational units such as modern intelligence, strategic law enforcement, terrorism issues. Upon completion of core subjects, students are then given the option to complete a specialist stream or continue with generalist subjects to gain a broader understanding of counter terrorism. 

Specialisations include policing, intellgience, cyber security and counter terrorism; and offer students the ideal pathway to tailor their learning to their professional goals and needs.  

Upon completion of this course, graduates will walk away with an indepth understanding of modern policing issues and counter terrorism measures – specialist skills that will create career opportunities with the state or federal police, ASIO and Australian Defence Force. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this course, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent in a related discipline

OR

  • Have an Australian bachelor degree, or recognised equivalent in a related discipline with significant work experience

OR

  • Have an Australian graduate certificate or equivalent in a related discipline.
