Soarock Minerals is a top 10 ASX listed company. We have numerous open pit and underground mining operations throughout Australia and internationally, and are looking for a Mining Manager at our Shaddock River Mine to grow and develop its iron ore operations. The mine is currently producing approximately 50,000 tonnes per month from its sub-level open stopes. Shaddock River Mine is a fly-in, fly-out operation and is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare operating plans, budgets and spending proposals
  • Ensure workplace training is delivered consistently
  • Ensure that appropriate systems – such as strategy development, contract management and performance reporting – are developed and operational
  • Plan and complete mine contracts to enable sustainable volumes and grade for export clients
  • Ensure safe and healthy work practices are maintained across all areas
  • Manage Production, Drill & Blast and Technical Services Departments
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of infrastructure and resources through sound operating practices
  • Ensure grade control measures are followed
  • Monitor the performance of Drill & Blast, Dewatering and Load & Haul actions on a monthly basis
  • Oversee the development of a robust ‘life of mine’ plan
  • Analyse performance data criteria to identify continuous project improvement ideas
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors on site
  • Concentrate on minimising the environmental effects of mining operations
  • Maintain compliance with all company and government legislation
  • Prepare reports for mining, engineering and management staff

You will need:

  • A degree in Mining Engineering with an Unrestricted Quarry Manager's Certificate or First Class Mine Manager's Certificate
  • Minimum five years in a senior management role operating mine sites
  • Demonstrated experience managing geological functions in an iron ore mining operation
  • Proven success in improving operational outcomes and performance
  • High level understanding of mining methodologies, improvement processes and contract management
  • Experience in management of large teams
  • Sound financial knowledge and general business management capabilities
  • Unwavering commitment to maintaining safety standards
  • Unrestricted quarry manager’s ticket
  • Well-developed communication, leadership, presentation and time management skills
  • Experience with VULCAN mine planning software will be an advantage
