Enjoy studying solo? Prefer to learn at your own pace at a place and time that's convenient for you? Then online study will be right up your alley! The demand for online learning is booming which means more and more educators are jumping on board and upping the ante with the courses they offer. Studying online won't leave you out of the loop - you'll still have full access to valuable content, resources and support staff every step of the way.

Blended

What happens when you combine the convenience of online study with traditional face-to-face classroom training? Blended learning! Blended learning has proven to be a real crowd pleaser; allowing students to reap the benefits of a flexible study timetable offered by online learning, with the added advantage of face-to-face peer support and teacher guidance. You may also hear this method of training referred to as "mixed-mode learning" or "hybrid learning".

On Campus

If a social and interactive study experience is what you're after, then traditional on campus study is the way for you! Opting to study on campus means you'll get a more hands-on experience and have face-to-face contact with fellow students, support staff and teachers. Plus you'll be able to attend social events, stay motivated with group study sessions and access to student facilities and all library resources. On campus study is best when you live within easy travelling distance or you want to live on-site.

Qualification Level

Certificate

Certification courses are typically specialised in a single skill set or field. The great thing about a certificate is they are generally considered entry-level which means minimal prerequisites! Start with a Certificate I and build your skills and understanding by progressing to a Certificate II, III or IV. Wanting to get into a trade, beauty, community services, hospitality or fitness? A certificate can get you qualified! Alternatively, a certificate is a great pathway for getting accepted into a degree program.

Course Unit

Get a taste tester of a degree when you undertake single-unit study. A unit is a study module worth a specific number of credit points (not to be confused with a course subject). Single unit study is great for filling in a skills gap, increasing your chances of getting into a degree programme, reduce future study time with recognition of prior learning, or may inspire you to continue onto a postgraduate degree. Single unit study is not available from all providers or with all qualifications so be sure double check.

Diploma

Take your study one step further with a Diploma. Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas are usually offered through TAFEs and private registered training facilities, and require one to two years of full-time study. Diplomas are one step up from a certificate qualification and equip you with more in-depth knowledge and skills in your chosen field. An Advanced Diploma will further to develop practical skills, offering you a higher level of expertise in industries such as marketing, IT and accounting. Graduate with your qualification and jump straight into the workforce, or pave the way to a Bachelors Degree.

Postgraduate

Seeking a competitive edge? Consider a Postgraduate Degree! In a nutshell, Postgraduate Degrees are designed to increase your knowledge and expertise in a specific area. Opt to undertake a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, a Masters Degree or a Doctoral Degree (PhD). Ranging from one to four years in length, each qualification will entail either coursework or research. Postgraduate study is great for advancing your career and boosting employment prospects, if you want to specialise in your field, gain professional registration, or even conquer a personal goal.

Short Course

Short courses allow you to spruce up your skillset in only a fraction of the time. Ranging from one day to one year, short courses are perfect if you're looking to formalise your skills gained in the workplace or build upon your qualifications gained through tertiary education. They can be the key to unlocking job prospects, promotions or new career ventures – and they'll do wonders for your creativity! Plus, studying a short course is a much smaller commitment than taking on a full study load, so you can easily slot it in with your work and personal life.

Undergraduate

An undergraduate qualification is commonly referred to as a Bachelor Degree and is the first level of study offered by universities. A uni accredited degree is the main gateway to many professional fields, and will give you a broad range of knowledge, skills and problem-solving capabilities to hit the ground running in your chosen industry. Upon completing the three to four years required for a degree, you'll have the option to further your knowledge in a specific area with one year of honours study.

Course type

University

Get qualified with a Bachelors Degree, Masters or Doctorate when you study with a recognised university. There are over one million students currently enrolled across 43 accredited Australian universities, offering a huge range of faculties-so you're bound to find a degree to suit your interests and objectives! Often you'll have the choice to study full-time or part-time and be offered different payment options. Surround yourself with leading thinkers in your field, gain academic recognition and enjoy a bustling on-campus social scene when you choose to study at a university.

TAFE/VET

Gain a valuable and hands-on learning experience when you study with TAFE (Tertiary and Further Education) or a VET (Vocational Education and Training) provider. Get practical experience with an apprenticeship or traineeship, or earn a certificate or diploma and go straight into the workforce equipped with the right skills. Their courses prepare students to work in fields like building and construction, aged care, community work, office work or trades. TAFE and VET training facilities offer nationally recognised qualifications and are government regulated - which means you'll be getting the highest in educational standards.

Private College

After a smaller and more close-knit learning environment? Study at a private college! Private colleges are smaller, independent tertiary training institutions, offering students a more personalised learning experience. These providers tend to focus on more specialised industries such as design, business, art, hospitality, and health. Get qualified with a short course, certificate, diploma, degree or even a postgraduate degree.

Government study loans

Government study loans like HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allow you to start the path to your dream career today and pay later! HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP is available to students planning to study at a university or other HELP approved tertiary providers. In order to receive assistance with funding all or part of your course, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent visa holder residing in Australia. Once you work and your salary reaches the compulsory repayment threshold then you gradually begin to repay your HELP debt.
