Course Rundown

The Diploma of Community Services (CHC52021) offered by South Sydney College is designed for people who want to build a meaningful career supporting individuals, families, and communities. This nationally recognised qualification focuses on developing practical skills to deliver, manage, and coordinate person-centred services that promote wellbeing, safety, and social inclusion.

Throughout the course, students learn how to support people experiencing complex needs, including crisis situations, domestic and family violence, mental health challenges, and social disadvantage. Key areas of learning include case management, program development, legal and ethical compliance, cultural safety, and working effectively with diverse communities. Students also complete a mandatory minimum of 200 hours of supervised work placement, gaining real-world experience in community services settings.

With a strong focus on practical application and professional practice, this qualification supports entry into community services roles such as community services worker, case worker, family support worker, or program coordinator. It also provides pathways to further study in community or social services management, subject to entry requirements. Enquire to learn more.
