Course Rundown

Get the qualification you need to work in early childhood education, with the nationally recognised CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care from Foundation Education. This course equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to implement learning frameworks, and support children’s development and wellbeing.

You’ll also learn how to use an approved learning framework to guide practice, and how to work across a range of age groups by providing nurturing care for babies, toddlers and children under direct supervision.

Work Placement

This course requires a minimum of 160 hours of work placement in a registered childcare facility, supervised by a qualified staff member able to sign off on practical demonstration elements.

Students will complete a range of assessments including quizzes, short-answer knowledge questions, case studies, workplace projects, video observations, and supervisor-led workplace assessments. A structured logbook must also be completed during a pre-approved work placement under qualified supervision.

Please note: This is a fee-for-service program, it is not government funded.

 

Eligibility

  • No formal entry or educational requirements.

  • If under 18, students must provide signed parental or guardian consent.

  • Must be an Australian permanent resident (or equivalent) or have the right to study in Australia (excludes student visa holders).

  • Students must complete 160 hours of work placement in an early childhood education and care setting, supervised by someone with a Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. Your placement provider must have the necessary equipment, resources and/or documentation.

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid must be completed externally.

  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required before placement.

  • Reasonable physical capability is required to care for and interact with children aged 0–6, including infants and toddlers.

*This course contains the unit, HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting, which must be completed through an external RTO. Foundation Education has an agreement in place with Red Cross Australia (RTOID 3605) which allows students to receive training for this unit at a reduced price. Please note that the cost of this external training is not included in any of your course fees. Upon completion, you will need to submit a copy of your first aid certificate in order for us to process a Credit Transfer against this unit on your student record. If you have chosen your own third-party provider, you must submit a certified copy of your certificate. If you have undertaken training with Red Cross Australia, you must forward Foundation Education the email you receive which contains the electronic copy of your certificate.
