About Midwifery
Women rely upon midwives to provide them with safe and effective care, as well advice and assistance during pregnancy, labour and throughout the postnatal period.
Midwifery courses teach students the knowledge and skills needed to provide this care, advice and assistance, as well as manage standard pregnancies and childbirths.
Additionally, they look at how to provide valuable postnatal care to women and their newborn, and most importantly, how to provide a high level of care, that meets the needs of women – from psychological and emotional needs through to physical and spiritual needs.
