Dear Ms Lupe,
Re: Language Tutor position
I am writing to apply for the position of Language Tutor as advertised recently on SEEK.com.au.
I am a highly organised and proficient Japanese language tutor currently studying a Bachelor of Languages and International Business. I possess over three years of experience as a language tutor and teacher.
For the past two years I have been working as a private Japanese language tutor catering to students, travellers and corporate clients. I conduct both one-on-one and group tutoring lessons focusing on reading, writing and speaking, with a particular focus on business vocabulary for my corporate clients. I also impart knowledge on Japanese cultural norms and practices as an integral part of my lessons.
Prior to my university studies, I travelled and worked in Japan for one year, teaching English in an English language school in Osaka. This year was invaluable in enabling me to perfect my Japanese language skills, gain an in-depth understanding of Japanese culture, and develop my language teaching and lesson planning skills. While at the Osaka English School, I was able to develop effective lesson plans while creating a fun learning environment, and consistently received positive feedback in student assessments. I also received a commendation from the school principal based on my performance.
As an Australian of Japanese descent, I am fascinated by everything I have learned of Japanese language and culture and I would love the opportunity to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with your students. I am an energetic, creative and enthusiastic teacher and tutor, and with my studies in international business I possess an extensive vocabulary in Japanese business language.
I believe that I could make a valuable contribution to the Japanese language team at Polylingual and would be available to teach at least eight hours per week, including evenings and weekends, which I could fit around my university studies. My resume is attached and I look forward to being able to discuss the position with you further.
Yours sincerely,
