This 100% online course offers flexible study and will offer students the fundamentals for providing assistance to patients according to a care plan and under the supervision of a health professional. Developed in consultation with health experts this course will cover how to comply with infection prevention and control policies; interpret and apply medical terminology; work with people with mental health issues; work with people with drug and alcohol issues and confirm physical health status.

Special Conditions for this Course
Please be aware there are no mandatory vocational placement hours for this qualification. However, students are required to have access to a suitable workplace to complete practical tasks including interacting with staff and a range of service users, access to older clients, access to reporting systems for behaviours of concern/incidents, organisational policies and procedures including, but not limited to, work health and safety, infection control, mandatory reporting, advocacy, support, service provision and documentation.
Students must also have a qualified supervisor in the workplace i.e., a person who holds Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or a higher relevant qualification.
Students may need to undertake a Working with Children check to meet individual work placement employer requirements.

*This course contains the unit, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, which must be completed through an external RTO. Foundation Education has an agreement in place with Red Cross Australia (RTOID 3605) which allows students to receive training for this unit at a reduced price. Please note that the cost of this external training is not included in any of your course fees. Upon completion, you will need to submit a copy of your first aid certificate in order for us to process a Credit Transfer against this unit on your student record. If you have chosen your own third-party provider, you must submit a certified copy of your certificate. If you have undertaken training with Red Cross Australia, you must forward Foundation Education the email you receive which contains the electronic copy of your certificate.
