Course Rundown

The Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620), offered by South Sydney College, is designed for individuals looking to build practical, hands-on skills for work in the automotive service and repair industry. This nationally recognised qualification focuses on developing the core capabilities needed to inspect, service, diagnose, and repair light vehicles.

Students learn through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical workshop training, gaining experience working with engines, fuel systems, braking systems, steering and suspension systems, ignition systems, and basic automotive electrical circuits. The course also covers the use of diagnostic tools, vehicle safety inspections, and the application of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.

With a strong focus on practical learning and real-world application, this qualification supports entry into trade-level automotive roles such as vehicle service technician or vehicle technician. It also provides a pathway to further study at Certificate IV level, subject to entry requirements, supporting progression into advanced technical or diagnostic specialisations.
