Course Rundown

The AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis offered by South Sydney College is designed for experienced automotive technicians who want to build advanced diagnostic skills and work with increasingly complex vehicle systems. This nationally recognised qualification focuses on diagnosing faults across modern mechanical, electronic, and integrated vehicle systems commonly found in today’s vehicles.

Throughout the course, students develop hands-on skills in diagnosing issues in areas such as engine management systems, braking, steering and suspension, automatic transmissions, vehicle stability control, and air conditioning and HVAC systems. Learning is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical workshop training, allowing students to apply diagnostic processes and use specialised tools in real-world scenarios.

With a strong emphasis on practical learning and industry-relevant skills, this course supports progression into senior diagnostic and specialist technical roles within the automotive retail, service, and repair industry.
