About this course

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to care for older people and make a difference in their lives.

Students will learn the fundamentals of providing care within the aged care sector. This includes key areas like effective liaison with other healthcare professionals, supervising fellow workers, responding holistically to client issues, providing services to older people with complex needs, and assisting with medication.

The course consists of one full day or two evenings of attendance per week for theory and practical sessions. Face-to-face attendance is supplemented through completion of self-directed learning packages, workbooks and assessment materials, and valuable on-the-job experience is gained through 120 hours of practical work placement.

How to Get In

To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • You must be an Australian citizen or have a permanent humanitarian visa or visa with study rights; AND
  • You must reside in Western Australia; AND
  • You must complete the Core Skills Test; AND
  • You will also need to:
    • Have successfully completed Year 12 or its equivalent in Australia, OR
    • Apply based on your work and/or life experience.
