Steps to Become a Design and Technology Teacher
Step 1: Complete an Approved Initial Teacher Education Qualification
Complete a four-year initial teacher education (ITE) qualification approved by AITSL. Two pathways are common. The first is a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with a Design and Technology specialisation (4 years full-time). This is available at universities across Australia, including online. A second option is a 3-year bachelor degree in design or engineering, then a 2-year Master of Teaching (Secondary). Step 2: Gain Practical Experience in Design and Technology
