About Pathology Courses
Pathology isn’t just about conducting blood tests – it is a branch of medicine that looks at predicting, preventing and diagnosing diseases.
These Pathology Courses will take you on a journey through diseases, looking at how to identify people at risk of disease, how to guide their treatment and how to monitor their progress.
Pathology Courses may not only look at how to problem solve in a laboratory environment, but will give you a broader understanding of diseases, and teach you how to study samples of body tissue for forensic or diagnostic purposes.
Pathology collectors (also called phlebotomists) collect blood, tissue, and other samples for medical testing. They work in clinics, hospitals, and labs, and play a key role in helping diagnose patients.
You’ll need a recognised qualification such as the Certificate III in Pathology Collection. This includes theory and practical training in sample collection, safety, and patient care.
Yes—especially if you like science, want to work in healthcare, and enjoy hands-on work. Pathology jobs are growing across public and private sectors.
You can complete theory components online, but hands-on practical training and work placement must be done in person. See our pathology course options for flexible formats.
Graduates can work in medical centres, hospitals, mobile pathology units and diagnostic labs. Learn more about the job outlook at Labour Market Insights.
