Course Rundown

The Diploma of Automotive Technology (AUR50216) offered by South Sydney College is designed for experienced automotive technicians looking to build advanced diagnostic and specialist technical skills. This nationally recognised qualification focuses on analysing and evaluating complex faults across modern mechanical, electrical, electronic, and integrated vehicle systems.

Throughout the course, students develop high-level capability in diagnosing and evaluating faults in areas such as engines and fuel systems, braking systems, steering and suspension systems, transmissions and driveline systems, engine and body management systems, air conditioning and HVAC systems, and vehicle safety systems. Learning is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory, intensive workshop training, and supported online learning.

In addition to advanced technical skills, students build capability in documenting technical specifications, estimating and quoting vehicle modifications, and communicating diagnostic findings clearly and professionally. This qualification supports progression into senior diagnostic, master technician, or specialist technical roles within the automotive retail, service, and repair industry, and can also provide a pathway into automotive management roles through further study.
