To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa with full work and study rights
- Meet language, literacy and numeracy requirements — applicants are required to complete an online LLN assessment prior to enrolment and meet the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 4 standard
- Have sound computer skills, including the ability to navigate software systems and use Microsoft Word at an intermediate level to complete assessments
- Have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a reliable internet connection to complete online modules and attend weekly Zoom sessions
- Have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI), or be willing to obtain one
- Complete a Pre-Training Review interview to confirm eligibility and readiness to undertake the course
Course Rundown
The CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services from Hader Institute of Education is for people who want to build a career based on helping others. The course focuses on giving you the practical skills to support individuals, groups and communities across a range of services — from advocacy and crisis intervention to loss and grief support, domestic and family violence response, and working with people experiencing homelessness.
You study 100% online over 12 months, combining three hours per week of live Zoom sessions with your trainer, 15 hours per week of self-paced study, and monthly one-on-one mentoring. There are no exams and no mandatory work placement — practical skills are built through realistic role plays and simulated workplace activities. By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and a nationally recognised qualification to step confidently into your first community services role.
Roles graduates commonly move into include Community Support Worker, Case Worker, Family Support Worker, and Outreach Officer. The qualification also sets you up to continue into the CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services if you want to progress further. Enquire to learn more.
