The Bachelor of Animation and VFX (FX) offered by CG Spectrum is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the technical and creative skills required to excel as an FX artist in the film and game industries. This degree focuses on teaching students how to create realistic CG fire, destruction, waves, and magic using industry-standard FX tools and techniques. Students will gain a deep understanding of production pipelines, creative workflows, and industry-focused skills that will help them stand out in this competitive field.
Throughout the course, students will engage in hands-on study and assessments, learning from experienced industry professionals and academic thought leaders. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including simulation techniques, fluid dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and advanced FX production. Additionally, students will develop essential interpersonal skills such as communication, problem-solving, and leadership, which are crucial for success in the real world. The program also includes dedicated time for building a professional showreel, ensuring that graduates are job-ready with a polished portfolio.
This degree is delivered 100% online, offering flexibility for students to study from anywhere in the world. The program is designed to be completed in two years, allowing students to graduate in less time than a typical degree.
Eligibility
To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Completion of a Year 12 Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (for example, VCE, QCE, WACE, HSC, SACE, etc.) or equivalent; and/or,
- Completion of a certificate III level qualification, or higher, issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF); and/or,
- Completion of a certificate IV level qualification (for example, a TAFE Diploma) issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF); and/or,
- Completion of a diploma-level qualification issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF); and/or,
- Experience-based entry – for applicants who do not meet any of the requirements above.
