Course Rundown

The Undergraduate Certificate of Mental Health, offered by Torrens University Australia, is a short, practical course designed to build a solid foundation in mental health, wellbeing and contemporary psychological science. Delivered entirely online, the course is well suited to those working in allied health, community services or first responder roles who are looking to upskill, as well as anyone curious about exploring psychology as a potential career path. It is an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 qualification that can be completed in as little as half a year full time, with part-time options also available.

Across four core subjects, students explore key areas including mental health, lifespan development, the biological bases of behaviour, and social and emotional wellbeing. The curriculum introduces evidence-based approaches to common mental health challenges, psychological principles that underpin human behaviour and cognition, and strategies for building resilience and supporting positive behavioural change. Assessment tasks are practical and varied — including infographics, case study reports, essays and workbooks — with no formal exams. Each subject requires around ten hours of study per week, and students receive personalised support from educators and Success Coaches with industry experience.

One of the standout features of this course is its pathway potential — a head start towards further study at bachelor level. Admission is flexible too, with entry open to a range of academic and work backgrounds. Enquire to learn more.
