Course Rundown
The CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is delivered by Five Bridges in partnership with Look Now Training. Running over five weeks, this course is designed to give participants the practical skills and industry knowledge needed to step confidently into a career in security. It is a great fit for anyone ready to enter a hands-on field with strong job opportunities across Queensland.
Throughout the course, participants develop a broad range of skills relevant to real-world security work. Key learning areas include the fundamentals of security operations, professional communication, conflict resolution, managing intoxicated persons, basic defensive techniques, protecting persons and property, and emergency evacuation procedures. Participants also complete eight employability units aligned with critical skills identified by employers for new starters, drawn from the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways framework — though this program does not award the full Certificate II qualification. The training is industry-led and focused on bridging the gap between classroom learning and on-the-job performance. Five Bridges also covers the cost of a police check, first aid, CPR and the security licence application, supporting participants through the full process of becoming work-ready.

Eligibility
To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be a permanent resident of Queensland
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with appropriate visas and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
- Must be able to pass a National Police Check, including fingerprinting.

Employment preparation
Students can access support with resume writing, interview preparation, workplace confidence, and job readiness skills to help them transition into employment.
Financial assistance
Eligible participants may receive assistance with course-related expenses, including uniforms, tools, transport, and other essential items that support training and employment outcomes.
Ongoing support
Support can continue for up to 32 weeks after students commence employment or further study, helping them build confidence as they settle into their next step.
Cultural and community support
Grounded in First Nations values, Five Bridges provides culturally informed support and works closely with local communities to create safe and inclusive learning environments.
Wellbeing support
Students may also have access to programs and services that support mental health, wellbeing, and community connection throughout their learning journey.
