Movember: Grow a Moustache and Support Men's Health in Australia

Movember is back! Each November, men around the world ditch their razors and grow a moustache to spark conversations—and raise vital funds—for men’s health. From mental health and suicide prevention to prostate and testicular cancer, Movember is changing the face of men’s health, one mo at a time.

Whether you’re growing a glorious handlebar, a modest pencil mo, or barely a whisker, it all starts with one clean-shaven face on November 1.

What Is Movember?

Movember is a leading global charity dedicated to improving men’s health. Since its launch in 2003, the organisation has funded more than 1,250 projects focused on:

  • Prostate cancer research and support
  • Testicular cancer awareness and treatment
  • Mental health and suicide prevention programs for men

In Australia, Movember partners with organisations like Beyond Blue, Lifeline, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. You can learn more about its impact or sign up to participate at the official Movember website.

How You Can Get Involved

1. Grow a Mo

This one’s for the Mo Bros. Start with a clean shave on November 1, then let it grow! Use your mo to start conversations and raise donations from friends, colleagues, and family.

2. Move for Movember

Run or walk 60km over the month—1km for each of the 60 men lost to suicide every hour globally. Do it solo or form a team and track your progress.

3. Host a Mo-Ment

Plan a Movember-themed event—anything from a trivia night to a virtual get-together—to raise funds and awareness. Make it fun, inclusive, and educational.

4. Mo Your Own Way

Not into moustaches? No worries. Take on any challenge—whether it’s a digital detox, art challenge or personal pledge—and use it to support Movember’s cause.

Why Men’s Health Matters

Men in Australia are facing serious health challenges:

  • Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men.
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15–39.
  • Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men aged 18–44.

Movember helps fund programs that support early detection, community mental health initiatives, and life-saving research. By getting involved, you’re literally helping to save lives.
