After a week of drama and mixed results, Kurt adds this Gold to his medal count of two Silvers for the 800 metres and 5000 metres and a Bronze in the 1500 metres. After being clipped by a fellow competitor in the 1500 metres, Kurt came from last to take the Bronze.
Winning Gold in the wheelchair marathon by a couple of seconds from his nearest rival after racing for one hour 23 minutes and 17 seconds indicates the determination of this young athlete who held in a close finish to to make the Gold medal his.
Australia salutes you, Kurt Fearnley, along with the other paralympians who have made us all proud.
